GM Southeast Asia president highlights the importance of customer service for the Chevrolet brand and its continuing success in the Thai market
Krabi: Martin Apfel, President of GM Southeast Asia Operations, GM Thailand and Chevrolet Sales Thailand, recently visited Chevrolet’s dealership in Krabi province where he received a warm welcome from the staff.
At a greeting reception, Mr. Apfel made a powerful remark emphasising the value of customer service. He reminded employees that they were “the soul” of Chevrolet and how important they were to the company’s business. Stressing the importance of delivering top quality customer service, Apfel said, “We can make great cars and trucks but it doesn’t mean anything without good customer service.”
Mr. Surasak Suwanthani, Chevrolet Krabi’s Sales Executive was specifically pointed out as a great sample of customer service excellency. Mr. Apfel recognized his outstanding service recently delivered to Mr. Boonrit Ngamsom, the District Sheriff, who walked into the showroom dressed very unusually casual. Mr. Suwanthani did not discrimate the customer by what he wore. Instead, he spent a real quality time providing the right information to the customer. As a consequence, Mr. Ngamson decided to buy his first Chevrolet Captiva on that day though, he admitted to have come just for a window shopping.
Before closing, Mr. Apfel stressed an equally importance of the mechanics in the workshop as the salesmen in the showroom. “Both of the team can influence the vehicle sales. While salesmen are selling the first vehicle, mechanics can help selling the 2nd vehicle by providing the best maintenance service to customers’ vehicles. At the end, it all comes back to delivering a great customer experience at every touchpoint” said Martin.
Lastly, Mr. Apfel had a complete tour of the facility. He was pleased to see that the Krabi dealer’s facility was in full compliance with Chevrolet’s high standards for dealers.
