Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) has been bestowed a great honor from His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn who will graciously pilot the Buddhist Pilgrimage Flight to Bodhgaya, India, the place of enlightenment. The entire journey will take one day, on Saturday, 13 November 2010, with Her Royal Highness Princess Srirasm and His Royal Highness Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti in attendance on this auspicious flight.
Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, THAI President, said that this Buddhist Pilgrimage Flight is being held on the occasion of THAI’s 50th anniversary. This flight will transport those participating in the Buddhist pilgrimage flight to Bodhgaya, India, where Buddha attained enlightenment and is considered to be the spiritual center for Buddhists worldwide. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn will graciously pilot this special flight, which will depart Bangkok on 13 November 2010 at 09.30 hours and arrive in Gaya at 11.15 hours (local time). The flight will depart from Gaya at 15.30 hours (local time) on the same day and arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 20.25 hours.
Buddhists and honored guests traveling with the Buddhist pilgrimage flight will visit the Mahabodhi Temple and pray at the revered Bodhi Tree, the site of Buddha’s enlightenment. The group will also visit Wat Thai Bodhgaya, where His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn will present his royal insignia pin made with royal blue enamel and diamonds to each contributor of 500,000 Baht towards the Buddhist pilgrimage flight.
THAI has invited Government Ministers, businesspeople, government entities, and state enterprises to join in this Buddhist pilgrimage flight, which a total of 100 seats were made available for a kind contribution of 500,000 Baht per seat. The entire net proceeds received from this Buddhist Pilgrimage Flight will be presented to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and will go towards His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn’s Scholarship Foundation and to His Royal Highness Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti’s Fund for Disaster Victims.
THAI has received confirmed participation for this Buddhist Pilgrimage flight from Thailand’s leading businesspeople, government officials, and members of the public.
