Mr. Teerapol Chotichanapibal (third from right), Acting Executive Vice President of Commercial, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), recentlyattended the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) 54th Assembly of Presidents inBrunei, along with 14 other AAPA member airlines’ CEOs, Presidents, and ExecutiveOfficers. The AAPA is the trade association for scheduled international airlines based inthe Asia-Pacific region.
The Assembly’s agenda included key areas as safety, security, environment, taxation, andpassenger services. On safety, the Assembly’s resolution is to renew the call on governments to properly resource and support respective regulatory authorities with theaim of achieving full IACO compliance. On security, the Assembly’s resolution calls ongovernments to recognize the need to provide a reasonable balance between aviationsecurity and passenger facilitation that minimizes inconvenience and delays. Theresolution on environment calls for governments to refrain from introducing taxes underthe guise of green initiatives. On passenger services, the Assembly calls on governments torefrain from introducing legislation that hinders airlines to compete freely on customer
service standards.
