The Home Builder Association unveils three main strategies, namely the setting up of a new information center for researches and developments as a mean to upgrade the industry standard and to enhance the industry’s potential; a closer cooperation with other related organizations through joint activities; as well as members’ capability development program through trainings, seminars and business match makings. The Association expected that the home builder market in 2010 will grow 5% YoY .
Mr.Vibul Chantradilokrat, President of the Home Builder Association, discloses about the Association’s policy in 2011 that the Association will focus on the upgrading of the industry’s professional standards through the implementation of three main strategies, namely the setting up of Home Builder Information Center; a closer cooperation with other related private organizations and state agencies; as well as members’ capability development program.
The first strategy, i.e. the setting up of Home Builder Information Center, is aimed mainly at the collection and analysis of data relating to home building as well as other related industries. In this regard, the Association has been closely collaborating with Real Estate Information Center and Government Housing Bank to help in its data collection and to provide consultation pertaining to the setting up of its Home Builder Information Center, which is expected to be completed in early 2011. Besides the collection of data related to the home building industry, the Home Builder Information Center will also conduct various research topics, e.g. consumer researches, market development researches, etc. to serve its members. In addition to conducting researches, the Information Center will also organize seminars in order to provide business-based information to people in the industry as well as other useful information to the consumers.
As for the second strategy to foster closer cooperation with other private organizations and state agencies, currently the Association has been well acknowledged by the various organizations and invited to participate in many home builder related activities. In 2011, the Association has set up a clear agenda to concretely move forward in this matter, e.g. it has jointly organized Baan Yim Project with Housing Development Office of the BMA. Under such project, which is expected to start in 1Q11, the Association will provide complimentary housing prints to the BMA to give away to those interested. In addition to the aforementioned project, there will be many more joint projects in the pipeline — mostly related to industry data development, housing market development, etc.
As for the third strategy, the Association has a policy to expedite the development of its members’ potentials through trainings and seminars so that they are professionally sound and commercially solid. This will also include a larger group of business matching activity offering more diverse product groups. In 2011, it is expected that the Association will be able to increase the number of participants in its business matching activity, which will ultimately result in more business deals than the previous year.
“The 3 strategies are crucial to professional upgrading of the home building industry so that it is recognized among its peers and stakeholders. In particular is the setting up of Home Builder Information Center, which will help facilitate necessary information for sound decision making. In addition, our Information Center will also place high priority on consumer researches so that right products and services are developed to maximize customer satisfaction.” Mr. Vibul said.
Mr. Vibul further added about the overall home building market in 2010 that though the industry was considerably hit by the political unrest in Bangkok in 2Q10, the market went fairly well, especially in 1H10. According to data provided by the Association’s Academic Affairs Department, the figure was up YoY when compared to that of 2009 and it is expected that the total market value in 2010 will be at 11,550 million Baht implying a growth of 5% YoY.
