Bangkok--8 Dec--Total Quality PR The double-decker has visited 125 airports in the world An Airbus A380 has landed at Tianjin Binhai International Airport in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin, where the Airbus A320 Family Final Assembly Line China (FALC) and the Airbus Tianjin Delivery Centre (ATDC) are located. The first ever visit by the A380 makes Tianjin the world’s 125th and China’s 7th airport visited to date by the world’s most modern and eco-efficient aircraft. The A380 (MSN004) flew from Beijing to Tianjin on the morning of 19th November. On board were a number of VIPs representing Chinese partners. The aircraft landed on the west runway of the airport and taxied to the east runway, which is mainly used for performing test flights for aircraft assembled by the FALC before they are delivered to customers. The A380 received a warm welcome from employees of FALC and ATDC, and VIPs from Tianjin and Beijing, as well as suppliers, who have provided continuous support to Airbus’ projects in the city. The FALC, a joint venture between Airbus and a Chinese consortium comprising the Tianjin Free Trade Zone and the Aviation Industry Corporation of China, is the first Airbus final assembly line outside Europe, while ATDC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Airbus, is the first Airbus delivery centre outside Europe. The Airbus A380 receives a traditional Chinese welcome in Tianjin. Tianjin is located 200 kilometres to the east of Beijing. The successful landing of the A380 at Tianjin Binhai International Airport demonstrates that the infrastructure of the airport is sufficient to handle A380 diversions from Beijing. The A380 arrived in China on 15th November. It was on flight and static display at the 8th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition in the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai. It visited the northern Chinese city of Shijiazhuang prior to its arrival in Tianjin. The aircraft will return to Toulouse the next day.
