IBM presents IBM KidSmart Early Learning Program toDemonstration School of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University and Sri Sangwan Chiang Mai School
IBM partners with Demonstration School of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University and Sri Sangwan Chiang Mai School presenting IBM KidSmart Early Learning Program to equip Chiang Mai students with academic and computer skills to support Government’s aim to spur creative economy in Chiang Mai.
The northern region contributes significantly to Thai economy. Quality of workforce therefore serves as the key foundation to the region’s growth and success. However, students within the region still need technology and learning equipments to enhance their learning skills.
“One of IBM’s major missions as part of our business expansion to the north is to help the region, starting with Chiang Mai, creating smart education and to develop skilled workforce essential for future growth through our technology and expertise,” said Mr Thanwa Laohasiriwong, Country General Manager of IBM Thailand Co.,Ltd. “IBM KidSmart Early Learning Program which comprises of computer and educational software will help students in their early age develop their computer and academic skills such as Mathematic, Science, English and Arts skills crucial for quality learning.”
Assistant Professor Dr. Reungdej Wongla, President of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University said, “Education for primary students is very important as this is the critical stage children start developing their skills. Integrating new technology to normal classroom teaching will make learning more interesting for students while helping them develop their computer and academic skills which suites our school’s vision to maximize students’ learning benefits through the use of technology.”
Ms Puangthong Sriwilai, Director of Sri Sangwan Chiang Mai School, said, “Children with physical or health disabilities require continual physical and academic skill stimulation. Technology plays an important role in accelerating their skill development including basic self-help skills and academic skills crucial for their ability to support themselves in society. IBM KidSmart Early Learning program will benefit our students by enhancing their learning ability as well as our teachers by facilitating fun learning environment.”
IBM has also provided training for school teachers and staffs on program application and machine maintenance to enhance schools’ effectiveness to use IBM KidSmart Early Learning Program.
As well as helping businesses, IBM places equal emphasis on using its talent and innovation to help transform the society and improve the quality of life for citizens of Chiang Mai. The company hosted TryScience Camp, the science camp for primary school students, for Demonstration school of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University in January 2010.
“Since 2001, IBM has donated and introduced IBM KidSmart Early Learning Program to over 100 schools as part of our corporate community responsibility through partnership with several organizations including The Rajaprajanigroh Foundation under The Royal Patronage, Office of Basic Education Commissions and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. We have technology to help children from kindergarten to university level to develop their skills. We are ready to bring our leading educational technology and expertise of our people to build quality children and skilled workforce for success of Chiang Mai and the Northern region,” Thanwa said.
