Microsoft (Thailand) Limited is introducing the ‘Me and My 100% PC’ campaign to encourage Thai users to better understand and recognize the value and benefits of using genuine software. The campaign’s launch follows the success of the Windows 7 launch in 2009, which has since seen Windows 7 become the fastest-selling operating system in history, with Forrester research indicating that 1 in 10 computers around the world are now running Windows 7.
With 94 percent of users reporting that they are satisfied with their genuine Windows 7, the ‘Me and My 100% PC’ campaign comes as part of Microsoft’s intensifying commitment to the retail market and consumer engagement, as well as efforts to encourage more users in Thailand to experience the benefits of genuine software for themselves.
“The global ‘Me and My 100% PC’ campaign is a direct response to Microsoft customer voices from around the world,” said Patama Chantaruck, Managing Director, Microsoft (Thailand). “The campaign mainly focuses on bringing forward the value of using genuine software which can truly answer the needs of today’s user, both in terms of work and play. Some examples of the benefits include enhanced productivity, creating new possibilities, protecting data from harmful attacks and ensuring your IT investment brings with it more value.”
The ‘Me and My 100% PC campaign’ echoes the benefits of using genuine Windows 7 through various channels, including printed media, radio spots, advertising, as well as indoor and online media. During the campaign’s creation, Microsoft worked with four young celebrities from different walks of life who are experiencing the advantages of genuine Windows 7 software. Celebrities include Pakorn Santisoonthonkul, co-founder of Dek-d.com, Tanthawat Ruangsorn, Managing Director of Prime Mansion Co., Ltd., Ticha Sutthitham, analyst and financial news anchor and Piyachai Karnasuta, Assistance to Senior Executive Vice President, Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited.
Pakorn Santisoonthonkul, co-founder and Product Development Manager of Dek-d.com, said, “Dek-d.com website encourages audiences which are mainly teenagers to see the significance of copyright and using genuine products. Likewise, we use genuine Windows 7 ourselves at our office since it is conducive to the creative website development environment. It’s also easy to use, stable and fully compatible with any other devices such as printers or scanners. I’m also impressed with its sleek design and the beautiful interface of themes and backgrounds offered.”
Tanthawat Ruangsorn, owner of property business, Prime Mansion and Golden Coast, said, “At the heart of our property business is a commitment to high-quality, function and value for money, which helps drive the success of our business. Genuine software offers a right tool for my business as it’s these same three things that I look for when choosing software. Windows 7 gives me a piece of mind that my data will be safe and that I can use it anywhere and anytime I want to answer the needs of my customers.”
In a recent survey of Thai people about their concerns towards the value of genuine software, 70 percent do not use genuine software while more than 70 percent show interest to purchase it. Furthermore, more than 50 percent would like to buy genuine software that is bundled with new PCs or notebook. To expand the campaign’s reach as much as possible, Microsoft Thailand is also initiating a series of online activities on Facebook called ‘100% Genuinely you’, whereby users can create their own unique avatar and set it as their profile picture. After launching the application for one month, the numbers of fans on the Windows 7 Facebook fanpage has increased by 9,000 fans. Currently, there are more than 4,000 people using MS Avatar application while more than 75,000 people visiting Windows 7 Thailand website.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is also working hard to engage with customers through its three Microsoft Experience Gallery and Experience Centers, with plans to open seven more in the next two years. Customers can experience genuine Windows 7 software, as well as learn more about the ‘Me and My 100% PC’ campaign at their nearest Microsoft Experience Gallery or by visiting the Windows 7 ThailandFacebook fanpage at www.facebook.com/Windows7ThaiFan andwww.windows7thailand.com.
