Chevrolet Bookings Exceed 100% Growth at Motor Expo

Bangkok--15 Dec--Weber Shandwick Chevrolet Sales (Thailand) (CST)’s booking at the recent Thailand International Motor Expo 2010 increased by more than 100 percent from last year’s event, due mainly to strong public interest in the recently-launched Chevrolet Cruze, Aveo CNG and Captiva with new gasoline engine. “Our booking at the Motor Expo amounted to 1,700 units — that has surpassed out sales projections for the Motor Expo. It’s also an increase of more than 100 percent over last year’s event. Equally important, we are the Number One non-Japanese brand in term of unit sales,” said Antonio Zara, Chevrolet Sales (Thailand)’s Vice President for Marketing, Sales and Aftersales. “During 12 days of the Motor Expo event, and outside the exhibition halls, we have achieved total bookings of more than a thousand Chevrolet Cruzes nationwide. We expect the booking rate of another 500 or so of the Chevrolet Cruze from showrooms within December. The Chevrolet Aveo CNG was also very well received with a total booking of more than 600 units nationwide,” he added. “We are confident we can achieve our target of 11,000 Chevrolet Cruze by the end of 2011, thanks to strong interests for this model and also to our aggressive aftersales campaign “Chevy Promise,” he said. The Cruze is the most popular amongst Chevrolet models at the Motor Expo, with the 1.8 version receiving the highest numbr of bookings, followed by the popular Aveo CNG. Of the total bookings, 697 units are for the Chevrolet Cruze, 443 for the Aveo CNG and 373 for the Chevrolet Captiva. “To further expand our brand footprint, and in addition to aggressive after-sales initiatives, we are looking at adding 20 more dealers to our nationwide network next year. This will enhance the width and depth of our coverage and our ability to provide the best positive ownership experience to our customers,” Mr. Zara added. Chevrolet will also aim to raise its Chevrolet Certified Used Car network by more than 100 percent from 29 dealers currently. “We are one of the leading brands that are actively promoting certified used vehicle campaigns in order to strengthen resale value of used Chevrolet vehicles,” Mr. Zara said. The all-new Chevrolet Cruze is available with either a 1.6 or 1.8 liter, 4-cylinder, DOHC 16-valve gasoline engine or a 2.0-liter commonrail diesel turbo engine. Prices are between 729,000-1,149,000 Baht. Engineered to respond to all driving conditions, the Cruze’s strengths lie in its superior Euro-ride suspension and a spacious interior — all enclosed in a great design pakage that is part of a global design DNA. It has a host of intelligent, performance and safety features. Other features include Automatic Headlamp System, Automatic Rain Sensor, USB and Bluetooth Connectivity and a centrally-located Driver Information Display. The Chevrolet Aveo CNG also proved to be a crowd favourite, wooing buyers with its efficient benefits without sacrifices in space, performance and handling. Providing motorists with an option for a full-sized compact sedan with small-car benefits, the CNG system in the AVEO is upgraded to enhance performance, drivability and durability while the transmission and suspension have been upgraded to enhance handling. In GM’s validation tests the AVEO proved to be 57% more economical in terms of fuel costs compared with the ‘best small car’ available today. The Aveo CNG is definitely the ‘eco-friendly’ answer to customers looking for ‘small car’ benefits without actually being in one! Equally captivating was the Chevrolet Captiva, reintroduced with a new instrument console, new connectivity options and a 3D sound system. New also to the Captiva will be the US-developed E20-capable 2.4 liter benzene engine, delivering up to 165 horsepower. Yet another first by Chevrolet and also in its class, the new engine will be fitted with a new 6-speed automatic transmission.
