Bangkok--16 Dec--HSBC HSBC has received regulatory approval to establish a new branch in Thailand, under the Government’s new Financial Sector Master Plan Phase II ruling that allows foreign banks to open additional outlets. HSBC plans to open a new HSBC Premier branch early next year to serve the expanding mass affluent retail banking segment in Thailand’s capital city. Mr Willie Tham, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC in Thailand, said: “As an international bank centred on its global connected financial services capabilities, we welcome this opportunity to add a new branch to enhance our world class HSBC Premier proposition for customers in Thailand. Our new branch will allow us to meet the growing need for personalised and professional wealth management services we are witnessing among Thailand’s rising affluent segment, particularly in Bangkok.” The new branch will be located at Vasu The Residence on Soi Sukhumvit 55 (Thong Lor), Bangkok. Expected to open in the first quarter of 2011, it will provide personalised financial planning services by dedicated HSBC Premier Relationship Managers. HSBC Premier is a world class wealth management service package that provides personalised services, wealth management privileges, worldwide recognition, exclusive benefits and rewards, all meticulously tailored to suit the lifestyles of customers. Customers can access Premier centres in 46 countries worldwide, in addition to an Internet banking service that offers a single view of all their accounts with HSBC around the world and free international phone calls to any HSBC Premier centre globally. Thailand’s recently issued Financial Sector Master Plan Phase II allows foreign banks operating in the country to open two additional branches — a move aimed at improving the competitiveness of the Thai financial system and fostering faster market liberalisation to support local economic development.
