Ratchaburi Holding Awarded the Bid Winner for 3 SPPs Projectswith Combined Generation of 350 MW and Commercial Operation by 2015
Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding PCL.(Ratchaburi Holding) announced a result of the bid proposals for Firm Small Power Producer (SPP) Cogeneration Projects joining with its business partners submitted to Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) in September 2010. The Company has achieved the bids for three projects with 350 MW in total generating capacity which commercial operation will start approximately in 2015.
For the SPP bid proposals, Ratchaburi Holding has joined forces with the Nava Nakorn Electricity Generating Public Company Limited and the Group of Ratchaburi World Cogeneration Company Limited. The awarded three SPP Cogeneration projects are as follows:
- One 130-MW SPP Cogeneration Project of Nava Nakorn Electricity Generating Company Limited, located in Nava Nakorn Industriall Promotion Zone, Pathumthani province
- Two 110-MW SPP Cogeneration Projects of Ratchaburi World Cogeneration Company Limited with total combined generation of 220 MW, located in Ratchaburi Industrial Estate, Ratchaburi province
Mr. Noppol Milinthanggoon, President of Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding PCL., revealed that the three joint-venture projects will take approximately four years to develop and construct. Meanwhile, an electricity generation of 90 MW from each SPP Cogeneration projects will be supplied to EGAT by 2015 under the 25-year Power Purchase Agreement. The remaining electricity generation and steam will be supplied and sold directly to industrial companies located in both industrial estates. The achievement in SPP projects will contribute to the Company’s stable income followed by its business plan which aims to generate business growth both in terms of profit sharing and total installed capacity corresponding to the government's promotion on power conservation policy. In addition to secure power generation in Thailand, the SPP Cogeneration Projects will efficiently support the power conservation of the country. Lastly, the bid proposals had been submitted by Ratchaburi Holding in corporation with business partners for Firm Small Power Producer Cogeneration Projects according to the solicitation for 2,000 MW power purchase from SPPs (2015-2021) issued by EGAT.
