Spitzenk?che, die inspiriertWine DINNER @ Mantra
19th of FEBRUARY
in the presence of the owner Mr Etienne Hugel
One of the Oldest wine producing families of the Alsace with winegrowing ancestors reaching back
since 1639
Alsace white wine among the finest in the world
Vines have been cultivated in Alsace for more than 2,000 years, and brought great prosperity to the region, particularly in the Middle Ages. The Hugel family’s vineyard estates cover more than 25 hectares, exclusively in Riquewihr, and almost half of which are in the Grand Cru zone. No use of fertiliser, low yields, vines averaging thirty years of age, thinning out of excess bunches, and picking always by hand, are all factors which contribute to rigorously high levels of quality.
In addition to its own estates, the Hugel family purchases grapes and grapes alone, from growers under long-term contract, farming more than 100 hectares. Thanks to the skill of their growers, a dozen of the best villages of Alsace thereby contribute to the quality of "Hugel" wines.
Their grapes are also always picked by hand, and according to a pre-arranged timetable.
Get ready to try out a handpicked selection of wines from his own vineyards including Hugel Pinot blanc 2007, Hugel Riesling 2008, Hugel Pinot Gris Traditional 2005, Hugel Gewuerztraminer 2008 and Hugel Riesling Vendange Tardive, which Mr. Hugel selected for this dinner
Please book today to avoid disappointment as this event is limited to 40 seats. The evening will be held in the private area of the restaurant with both the wine maker and Mantra Chef, Jens Heier introducing the wines and food of the evening.
