Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) is undertaking preparations for a special flight to Cairo, Egypt to bring stranded Thais to Thailand.
Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, THAI President, announced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand has requested THAI to support in the air transport of Thais still stranded at Cairo International Airport in Egypt. THAI is now preparing its aircraft, cabin and cockpit crew.
However, as THAI does not have scheduled flight operations to Cairo, Egypt, THAI must determine crucial aspects of flight operations such as flight safety, available ground equipment and ground service, fuel availability for the return flight, and especially the landing authorization and airspace permit that authorizes aircraft to fly over the different countries on route to Egypt.
THAI is also working on alternative airports near Cairo Airport, that is a THAI destination, in case THAI is not able to operate to Cairo Airport.
