Bangkok--7 Feb--Thai Airways
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) reports on progress of THAI fights to Cairo, Egypt, stating that it would operate evacuation flights to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as a base to bring Thais back to Thailand.
Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, THAI President, said that THAI had arranged for the special flight direct to Cairo, Egypt according to the request and coordinated efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand. However, since THAI does not have normal scheduled flights to Cairo, too much time and effort was needed to coordinate for each flight approval and various navigational permits, as well as coordinating with Cairo airport ground authorities, refueling services, and air traffic control. In order to expedite the repatriation of Thais to Thailand, THAI will now operate repatriation flights from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where THAI has scheduled daily flights.
