The Shawn Kelley Trio featuring David Gomes, take to the stage to delight music lovers with a sparkling repertoire of jazz numbers, each given a distinctive touch by both Kelley and Gomes.
Both performers have outstanding musical pedigrees and are highly respected on the international jazz scene. David Gomes is renowned among Asian jazz enthusiasts as one of the foremost Malaysian jazz pianists and vocalists. For over two decades David has travelled extensively, performing in Holland, UK and Germany. He founded the only two Malaysian jazz outfits to play at one of the world’s largest music festivals, the North Sea Jazz Festival. He has played on the same stage with legendary jazz stars such as Wynton Marsalis, Jack DeJohnette, John Pattitucci and renowned Academy Award and Grammy Award winner, Herbie Hancock.
Shawn Kelley was raised in Syracuse, New York and studied jazz under the tutelage of Ron Carter, John Lewis, Gil Evans, and Sonny Igoe. After years of playing in New York, Shawn relocated to Asia where the versatile drummer is in demand. He has performed at jazz festivals in Asia with artists such as the extraordinary keyboard player Jeff Lorber, sax virtuoso Eric Marienthal, Phil Perry, and Terumaso Hino. Shawn is always a pleasure to see perform. His drumming spans the entire dynamic spectrum of jazz, from the most sensitive nuance through to driving and explosive drum solos.
