Thai Ceramic Roof Tile Co., Ltd., the manufacture of Tra Chang “Excella” roof tile will be participating in the Architect Fair 2011 to show the first innovative solar-cell roof tile in Thailand. The idea was developed under the concept to stop global warming by reducing the use of electricity made by fossil fuels and promoting the use solar energy, which is clean and renewable from the nature. Combing the beauty of ceramic roof tiles and its ability to generate its own electricity, this innovative product enables customers to feel as part of environmental conservation. The first-of-its-kind roof tile will officially debut in the Architect Fair 2011 at Challenger Hall, Muangthong Thani.
Marketing Department Manager of Thai Ceramic Roof Tile, Mr.Jaturong Kurowat explained about the product that in today’s world where global warming is an important issue, as well as the world resources are running out fast, the idea of environmental conservation and renewable energy is gaining a lot of interest. Besides, the Energy Ministry is encouraging the public to take part in producing energy through solar energy and has come out with a new measure to buy back electric energy from investors in a special price. However, the measure is still under consideration and it is expected to be announced in the near future. Mr. Jaturong said that purposes in producing the solar-cell roof tile were to support this particular campaign as well as help lessen the burden of electric bills of the customers.
This latest innovation of Tra Chang solar roof tile is considered to be the first in Thailand. This innovation uses a special type of solar cell called “Polycrystalline Silicon”, special type of solar cell to produce Tra chang “Excella” roof tile ‘CeraFino’ collections. The solar roof tile is then further developed to be compatible with the Tra Chang “Excella” CeraFino slate and modern series, which combines together brushing customers worries of leaking rooftops. What makes Tra Chang solar tile more special than other solar cell panel is that customers do not have to put the solar cell panel on top of the original tiles but instead combine both of roof tiles and solar cell together, making a perfect choice for customers, Mr. Jaturong added.
As for the marketing plan, Mr. Jaturong said that Tra Chang “Excella” Solar tile is a product which is developed from CeraFino collection, which obviously meets the need of hi-end customers, who are finding, sophisticated, beautiful, modern, and conserving environment type of tile, and also projects with Green and ECO concept.
The company has placed this latest product position under the TOP OF HIGH END ROOF category. The company will provide sales team to service and guide customers, with professional installer from Cementhai Home Service The marketing manager added that he is confident that this product will receive good responses from the customers. The company expects to sell around 1,500 square meters in the first year worth around 50 million baht.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sitthichai Niemcharoen, Home and Building System Development Manager of SCG Building Materials, revealed that after developing Tra Chang Excella CeraFino collection, the company saw an opportunity to further develop the product into a solar-cell roof tile, which its size is big enough to be used instead of solar panels. The company developing team then researched on different technologies of producing solar cells and finally developed Tra Chang solar which can generate the electricity from the sunlight. He added that, another specialty of the product is that it is compatible with Cerafino roof tile collection therefore it is easy to install. The solar tile is able to generate up to 15-watt per tile and has the same life time as other solar roof tile around the world.
