Bangkok--22 Feb--JETRO
As part of its mission to promote bilateral trade and investments between Thailand and Japan, the Japan External Trade Organization or JETRO Bangkok — which successfully promoted OTOP products as well as franchise of Thai restaurants, spas and media contents in Japan — now encourages Thai businesses to boost Thailand’s economic growth by investing in Japan, which serves as a great base for expansion to the world. More information will be revealed at “Invest Japan” symposium on March 21, at Dusit Thani Hotel.
JETRO Bangkok President Munenori Yamada said “Investment in Japan is never costly if it is the right industry to invest in, such as technology, fashion and lifestyle. The products and services can be offered to Japanese consumers, who are known for having high purchasing power, or exported or franchised to other countries worldwide with quality guarantee from having a Japanese business address, without jeopardizing the competitiveness of Thailand.”
Japan serves as a great base between the east and the west as seen from increasing foreign direct investment (FDI) which jumped from 4,713,000 Million Yen in 1999 to 18,425, 000 Million Yen in 2009. As of 2009, US and EU accounts for 79.4% of the FDI in Japan and Asia for 8.7%. Regionally, Singaporean investment tops the chart (61.3%), followed by Hong Kong (15.3%), Taiwan (11.5%) and Thailand (0.05%).
“JETRO partners up with related organizations both in Japan and Thailand to provide the following resolutions to potential investors such as:
- For business establishment, JETRO’s Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) will provide consultations and facilities such as free temporary office space in Japan, support services for staff hiring, for work permit application and for business registration.
- Over to high taxes, the Japanese government is looking into offering tax privileges for selected foreign businesses in Japan.
Thus, investors are assured of a convenient start and feasible investments when they come invest in Japan,” said Mr. Yamada.
