Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Honda’s Bangkok-based Asia & Oceania regional headquarters, today announced management changes that will be effective on April 1, 2011.
The key changes are as follows:
1. New Chief Operating Officer for Asia-Oceania region
Mr. Fumihiko Ike, 58, currently Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, Asia-Oceania region, Honda Motor Co., Ltd.; and President & Chief Executive Officer of Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd., will become Senior Managing Officer and Director of Honda Motor Co., Ltd. With this new assignment, he will be responsible for Chief Operating Officer for Business Management Operations (Chief Financial Officer), Honda Motor Co., Ltd.
Mr. Ike will bring 29 years of experience with Honda to his new role. Mr. Ike has served as President & CEO of Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd. since April 1, 2008. Under his leadership, Honda has improved business results in Asia-Oceania Operations during global financial crisis, making Asia-Oceania region play an important role in supporting Honda’s global operations.
Mr. Hiroshi Kobayashi, 56, currently Director and Chief Operating Officer for Business Operations (Japan), will succeed Mr. Ike as Chief Operating Officer, Asia-Oceania region, Honda Motor Co., Ltd.; and President & Chief Executive Officer, Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd., effective on April 1, 2011.
Mr. Kobayashi joined Honda Motor Co., Ltd. on April 1978 and was promoted to Director of Honda Motor Co., Ltd. in 2003. Mr. Kobayashi used to work in Asian Honda back in 1996 as General Manager of Automobile Operations. He also has wide experience in Europe and Canada.
2. Changes in Asia-Oceania management
Due to rapid market growth in the Asia-Oceania region, the management of Honda’s subsidiary companies in Thailand will also change.
Mr. Takahisa Suzuki, 56, currently president of Honda R&D Southeast Asia Co., Ltd. will move to Honda Motorcycle Business Planning Office. His successor, Mr. Kenji Kawaguchi, currently Honda R&D Operating Officer and Honda R&D Center (Asaka) Planning Office General Manager will take over as president of Honda R&D Southeast Asia Co., Ltd. on April 1, 2011.
With these management changes, Honda will accelerate efforts throughout its regional operations to achieve the company vision 2020 by creating products that maximize the joy of customers, with speed, affordability and low CO2.
