Miss Paweena Laoviwatvong, Chairman of the Executive Director of The Union Mosaic Industry Public Company Limited or UMI, the manufacturer and distributor of Duragres tiles said the company booked a record sales of THB 618 million baht in the fourth quarter, up by 14% on a y-o-y basis, pushing its bottom line net profit to surge 56% to THB 48. For the whole year 2010, the company hit the historical highest records of sales at THB 2,418 million or 11% increased, which resulted in an outstanding record of net profit at THB 217 million or increased 67%.
The company’s robust earnings were boosted by the contribution of continuous recovery in the property market, the company’s persistent efforts in pushing high value added products, and improvement in production efficiency that continuously bolster production yields.
In 2011, the company targets sales to grow by 7% to THB 2,600 million approximately. It will continue to emphasize on developing in high value added tile products, focusing on innovative design and uniqueness to avoid price competition. UMI plans to invest over THB 500 million for the next few years to lift production capacity by 5 million square meters of ceramic and porcelain tiles. It also aims to increase efficiency in energy usage as well as production management. In addition, the company also plans to implement Green UMI project to raise environmental awareness of its staff and participate in environment conservation along with sustainable growth of the society.
