Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok, will host a gala wine dinner in honour of the late Bernie Cooper, the city’s highly respected food and wine writer.
“An Evening for Bernie Cooper” has been organised by friends, colleagues, and members of Bangkok’s hospitality industry as a tribute to the writer who died in January after a short illness. A colourful character and a dedicated journalist, Bernie was greatly admired for his culinary knowledge, insight, and eloquent writing style. His widely published articles made a major contribution to Bangkok’s dining and entertainment scene for many years.
A celebration of Bernie’s life and his passion for food, wine and music, the unforgettable evening at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit will include a dinner of refined cuisine complimented by exceptional wines, and red hot jazz by leading international musicians.
Diners will enjoy a special menu created by gifted chefs from Bangkok’s leading restaurants including Chef Norbert A Kostner of Mandarin Oriental, Chef Gaetano Palumbo of Royal Orchid Sheraton, Chef Martin Faist and Chef Thibault Chiumenti of Plaza Ath?n?e Bangkok, A Royal M?ridien Hotel, Chef Gianni Favro of Gianni Ristorante, and Chef Michael Gremer and Chef Stefano Merlo from Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok.
There’ll also be outstanding live jazz from Cynthia Saunders and the Bamboo Bar Band from the Mandarin Oriental, Alice Day and Steve Cannon with the Randy Cannon Power Trio and Koh Mr. Saxman with the Jeremy Monteiro International Trio from Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit.
Once asked why he enjoyed writing about food, wine, and jazz so much, Bernie responded, “It’s all about raising our glasses to everything we love.”

Tickets for the gala wine dinner are priced at Baht 3,500 per person or Baht 30,000 baht per table of ten.
