Too good a competition to miss…. The Post Publishing Public Company Limited in co-operation with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Tourism Authority of Thailand recently organized the ‘Bangkok Post 9FilmFest 2011’, the first-time ever Thailand’s biggest short film competition offering opportunities to emerging film-makers. The 9FilmFest 2011 was co-sponsored by Singha Corporation, AIS, Sony, MCOT, SF Cinema, under the concept ‘From Now On… No.9 Will Change Your Life’ and the kick off festival was held at Bangkok Arts and Culture Centre.
Mr.Supakorn Vejjajiva, President and COO of the Post Publishing Public Company Limited said ‘we aim to contribute to the development of the Thai film industry. The main focus is also to find the next generation of talented filmmakers and screenwriters out there. For the first year!, the Bangkok Post 9FilmFest 2011 is under the concept ‘From Now On…No.9 Will Change Your Life’ is now call for entries from all over the world until April 22, 2011.’
The screening of the nine films which have made it to the final will be picked by the 9FilmFest and a panel of judges from Thai Film Foundation. The announcement for semi-final will be made on May 9, 2011 and the event will climax on May 28m 2011 at Parc Paragon.
Judging the films on the final will be a five-person jury comprising famous Thai film directors including Pimpaka Towira, Nonzee Nimibutr and Pen-ek Ratanaruang. In addition, the well-known actor Ananda Everingham and Kong Rithdee who is best known as the long time film critic and columnist at Bangkok Post are in jury team.
The 9FilmFest will present 9 winning awards with prizes over 300,000 Baht to the first year top’s filmmakers at the award presentation ceremony on May 28, 2011.
Bangkok Post 9FilmFest 2011 is a great opportunity to advance career in filmmaking and gaining recognition in the film industries. Open to everyone from around the world which no film making background is required. Film must be under nine minutes in length and all entries must contain our 9SI (9 Signature Item), to ensure the films are made for entering our festival.
