Bangkok--16 Mar--Integrated Communication
The Department of Export Promotion (DEP), in collaboration with the Furniture Industry Club, the Federation of Thai Industries, and the Thai Furniture Industries Association, have once again joined forces in organizing Thailand’s grandest and most comprehensive furniture exposition — the Thailand International Furniture Fair 2011 or TIFF 2011. The event will showcase high-quality and well-designed furniture items from over 220 producers, occupying over 900 booths. With an innovative strategy of ‘Small Order OK’ or ‘SOOK’, TIFF 2011 plans to penetrate into niche markets, as well as, to attract more potential customers with smaller orders. The TIFF 2011 event is scheduled to take place on March 16th-20th, 2011, at BITEC, Bangna.
Mrs. Porntiva Nakasai, the Minister of Commerce, stated that “The Thai furniture industry has shown signs of healthy growth since the later part of last year, generating a total export value of over 88.62 Million U.S. Dollars only during January this year, a promising 1.69% growth over last year. The growth has been particularly more active in Asian markets such as Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and India; as well as, in emerging markets with high purchasing power such as China, India, Russia and the United Arab Emirates. For 2011, we have set an export target of 1,290 Million U.S. Dollars, or a 10% growth over that of 2010, and we are confident in achieving it. The Thailand International Furniture Fair 2011 will undoubtedly play a strategic role in helping Thailand meeting its export goal. The event is anticipated to attract potential buyers and business partners from around the world — such as Japan, the United States, the European Union, India, China, the Middle East, Africa, Canada and Australia — to engage in business negotiations with Thai furniture entrepreneurs and producers.”
“The opportunities for growth of Thai furniture products in these countries are tremendous, especially in markets with high-purchasing power such as China, India, Russia and the U.A.E; as well as, markets with already high growth rates such as Indonesia, South Korea, France, Taiwan and South Africa. This is time for Thai furniture makers to capitalize on their strengths.”, said Mrs. Porntiva.
The strengths of Thai furniture makers indeed encompass a wide range of industry aspects as follows:
- A vast selection of quality raw materials;
- Skilled workmanship;
- High-quality products;
- Proven marketing strategies such as ‘niche market’and ‘contract project’;
- A focus on environmental-friendliness throughout production
- A business shift from remaining suppliers of other brands to creating well-known, internationally-regarded Thai brands
- Adding differentiating values to Thai furniture products through meticulous craftsmanship, exceptional designs and versatile functionality to suit lifestyles of consumers in different countries
- Service excellence
- On-time delivery
- Ability to capitalize on benefits of the Free Trade Agreements which Thailand now has with key markets such as Australia, India and ASEAN
Mrs. Nuntawan Sakuntanaga , DEP Director-General, revealed that,“The TIFF 2011 event will run from March 16th to 20th, 2011, at BITEC Bangna and will be organized under the theme of ‘Finding Green Piece’. Over 220 leading furniture companies throughout Thailand will be waiting to amaze international visitors and business people with their latest innovative andeco-conscious collections in over 900 booths. The event will be a greatone-stop shopping venue for purchasing executives of real estate projects, hotels and resorts looking for a wide range of stylish furniture for their premises. During the last two days, March 19th-20th, the event will be open for retailing to the general public. TIFF 2009 is expected to attract over 34,000 international visitors — 8,000 of which from overseas and around 26,000 from within the country.”
“The annual TIFF events have always been regarded as Thailand’s most comprehensive and most dazzling furniture extravaganza, and this year,the brand-new proactive marketing strategy of ‘Small Order OK’ or ‘SOOK’will be implemented for the first time. The strategy aims to attract more potential buyers with smaller orders. All the booths bearing the ‘SOOK’ logos will be more than happy to listen to your special requirements, even with an order as small as only one piece. This strategy will undoubtedly satisfy‘niche market’ customers with specific demands — such as hip hotels, resorts and project contractors. This will also add substantial desirable value to Thai furniture products without having to engage in fierce price wars.”, noted Mrs. Nuntawan.
In addition to a grand furniture showcase, TIFF 2011 will also feature a fascinating range of interesting exhibitions and activities as follows.
Waste to Wealth
Furniture and home decorative items fashioned out of discarded materials will be presented to highlight their practicality and compliance with the global ‘eco-friendly’ trends where efforts are made to reduce the volume of garbage, the use of resources and the effects of global warming. The program is conceived to help entrepreneurs handle customer requirements, manage waste and create sustainable, value-added designs.
American Hard Wood Design Camp
The project provides university students an opportunity to experience the furniture product design process in a real-world environment under the guidance of experienced professionals, and encourage them to design furniture products that are not only aesthetic to look at, but are also highly functional and can be produced for real-life commercial use.
DEmark
The winners from the “DEmark” or the Design Excellence Award, as well as, the Japan’s prestigious G-Mark Good Design Award, will be displayed in this dedicated exhibition to highlight their creativity, uniqueness and added value.
“TIFF 2011 will provide great opportunities for Thai furniture makers to demonstrate their outstanding design and production excellence to potential business partners and buyers from around the world. It is also a must-visit event for professionals in hotel and recreational businesses, as well as, the general public who are looking for export-grade furniture items with outstanding designs and functionalities. If you are one of them, look no further. Find it all at TIFF 2011. During the first three days, March 16th-18th, the event is open exclusively for business and trade negotiations from 10am to 6pm; whereas, the last two days, March 19th-20th, from 10am to 9pm, it will be open for retail customers.”, explained Mrs. Nuntawan.
