IMPCAT pours budget of 500 million baht to enhance its venue and facilities to serve the upcoming Motor Show and other seven major events from the end of March to April 2011 which will attract over two million visitors. The facility enhancements include entrance and exit road expansions. new loading for IMPACT Challenger Hall, new connecting walkway between hotels and other buildings, promotion of security measures and the traffic management to prevent heavy congestion during the host of simultaneous events.
Regarding the enhancements, Mr. Paul Kanjanapas, Managing Director, IMPACT exhibition Management Co., Ltd. (the operator of IMPACT Muang Thong Thani Exhibition and Convention Center), revealed “All the enhancements will be our best welcome for the upcoming Bangkok International Motor Show held from 25 March — 2 April 2011 at IMPACT Challenger Hall, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani; other seven major events, exhibitions and concerts; and regular flow of conferences and wedding banquets spanning from end of March to early April 2011. With the tight event schedule, IMPACT make sure that all preparations are well made by accelerating the development of facilities and upgrading its services to international standards in accordance with its business policy “Partnership for Success” as proven by the commitments to deliver one-stop service with the best options for customers’ successes under the investment of 500 million baht to construct additional facilities for organizers and visitors. During the aforementioned period, IMPACT expects the traffic of two million visitors.
Among the new facilities worth mentioning is the connecting walkway between Novotel Bangkok IMPACT Hotel and other adjacent buildings such as Convention Halls, Exhibition Halls and IMPACT Challenger Hall. After the construction was completed in February 2011, the new walkway offers more convenience and safety for organizers and visitors as they do not longer require vehicles to take them to conferences, seminars, exhibitions and concerts. Now, all buildings across IMPACT Muang Thong Thani are more accessible like never before.
The partial investment of 160 million baht went to the construction of new indoor parking building for 200 cars at the Exhibition Hall 10 along with the land filling in the Lakeside Area to provide outdoor parking space for 1,000 cars. Another 80 million baht went to the improvement of entrance and exit roads connecting to Tiwanon and Chaengwattana Roads. For Tiwanon side, traffic surface was improved. On the other hand, two new lanes were added from Dao Jai Conjunction to Chaengwattana Road. Thus, six road lanes will be ready for the upcoming Motor Show.
Another 120 million baht went to the renovation of loading points behind new IMPACT Challenger Hall with the new two-storey, free-flow, steel-enhanced, concrete building with elevated floor for instant loading. The area is divided into two parts. One for the 21 large vehicles (with maximum weight of two tons for each vehicle) and the other for 127 smaller vehicles (with maximum weight of one ton). After the construction is completed, IMPACT Challenger Hall will have loading area for over 800 vehicles, up from the current rate of 360 vehicles.
Added Mr. Paul, “Besides the facility enhancements, the security measures are upgraded by the summery of past records to analyze for new measures and solutions to relieve the robberies, maximize regulation conformity and recruitment of security service company for long-term contract to ensure the efficient human resources with high area familiarity. Moreover, we request additional supports from Police Dog Unit (K9) to patrol the area. All these efforts are to maximize customers’ confidence and satisfaction.”
However, IMPACT has discussed with the organizers of Motor Show and other events to facilitate the ease up the possible traffic problems during the co-locations such as pick up service from major landmarks, joint PR campaigns. The discussion will reach its final conclusion soon and relevant information will be distributed to visitors and related parties accordingly.
