*** Reinforcing leadership in international banking services ***
HSBC in Thailand opened a new branch in Soi Thonglor within the Bangkok area today, the first foreign bank to take advantage of the country’s new measures aimed at liberalizing its financial markets.
The new Thonglor Branch focuses on offering customers unrivalled wealth management and international banking services under its HSBC Premier brand.
Mr. Matthew Lobner, Chief Executive Officer, HSBC Thailand said: “HSBC was established as the first bank in Thailand in 1888 and since then has offered the business community and individuals unparalleled levels of service, emphasizing the Group’s global connectivity. The new branch further endorses our commitment to Thailand and our position as the leading international bank in the country.”
HSBC is the first foreign bank in Thailand to open a new branch following implementation of the Bank of Thailand’s Financial Sector Master Plan Phase II, which allows foreign banks to open additional branches. The new measures aim to improve the competitiveness of Thailand's financial services industry to benefit consumers, businesses and the local economy.
Thailand meets the HSBC Group’s strategy of investing and growing revenue streams in emerging markets, with its prospects for long-term economic growth. A recent HSBC Emerging Market Index indicated Thailand expected to rank 22nd in terms of economic size by the year 2050, seven positions higher than where it is now.
The Thonglor branch is located at Vasu The Residence Building on Sukhumvit Soi 55 (Thonglor), Bangkok. It offers unparallelled wealth management and international banking services, under its HSBC Premier brand, to customers with at least THB3 million invested or deposited with the Bank. HSBC Premier customers enjoy expert financial planning and advice by dedicated Relationship Managers; online access to HSBC bank accounts worldwide with free international fund transfers; free international calls to HSBC Premier Centres in 47 countries and territories; advance overseas account opening for customers planning to study or work abroad. HSBC Premier customers and their families are also entitled to global emergency support such as cash advances of up to US$2,000 in case of lost or stolen cards and access to a global hotline.
To celebrate the new branch opening in Thonglor, HSBC Premier is offering up to 400,000 miles redeemable against an around-the-world air ticket for new customers who open an HSBC Premier account1.
