BarSu and the California Wine Company Limited invites wine lovers to kick-back in style at a special evening of “West Coast Wine & Wapas”.
Chill-out in the cool surroundings of BarSu on Thursday 31 March, 2011, when a wine guru from the California Wine Company Limited will uncork a selection of wicked West Coast wines paired with creative and seriously tasty wapas.
A combination of almost 250 years of winemaking traditions, innovation, and an ideal climate make California one of the world’s truly exceptional wine producing regions. Wine lovers at BarSu’s early evening soir?e will enjoy six carefully chosen vintages, starting with a welcoming glass of Crane Lake Brut. The blend of Colombard and Chardonnay grapes results in a crisp sparkling wine with aromas of apple and citrus, and flavors of pear on the palate.
The wine tasting will include the delicate Forestville Pinot Grigio, 2008, followed by Crane Lake Sauvignon Blanc, 2008, a refreshingly white wine that offers citrus and tropical fruit flavors with an aromatic bouquet of green chilies, herbs and gooseberries.
Other wines served at the evening of New World wines and light bites will include the Coastal Ridge Pinot Noir, 2009, a gold medal awarded wine that displays good fruit character with notes of strawberry, plum, and black cherry.
California is renowned for the Zinfandel varietal, with the finest examples grown from carefully tended old vines. A highlight of the BarSu wine tasting will be the Stone Barn Old Vine Zinfandel, 2006, a full-bodied and deep garnet colored wine with a nose of spice, cherry and raspberry, and rich flavors of plums, blackberries and a hint of spice.
The memorable evening ends with McManis Cabernet Sauvignon, 2008. Awarded 85 points by Wine Spectator, this expressive wine has an aroma of ripe blackberries and long elegant finish.
