Bangkok--22 Mar--Francom Asia
Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, recently signed an agreement to deploy a high-performance LTE network in the United Arab Emirates for Etisalat, the leading telecom operator in the Middle East and Africa. The network will be the first commercial LTE network in the Middle East as well as the largest network of its kind in the region.
LTE technology, which has already been tested and deployed on the Etisalat network, enables the existing network to reach a download speed of 173 Mbps and thus allows users to engage in demanding multimedia applications such as video conferencing and high-definition video-on-demand.
The project is a solid proof of the company's expertise in LTE technology. Huawei has worked on commercial and trial LTE networks in many regions across the globe, and its efforts in innovation and research were recently recognized with the "Best Contribution to R&D for LTE in North America" award from the LTE North America 2010 Awards ceremony as well as the "Wireless Broadband Network Vendor of the Year" award from the 2010 Telecom Asia Readers' Choice Awards event.
