The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), Australian Embassy, Bangkok would like to invite you to a press launch of Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation (TGO) Report on “Energy & Climate Change in Thailand: Analysis of Policy Environment and Capability Gaps” on Tuesday 29 March 2011 at the Ambassador’s Residence from 17.30hrs. -19.30hrs.
The report launch will coincide with the Australian Carbon Markets Mission 2011 to Thailand. The mission includes participants from capable Australian companies in the areas of Carbon Trading, Carbon Consultancy, Environmental products and Renewable Energy (Geothermal) and Designated National Authorities from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore and Philippines.
Austrade will be organising morning seminar sessions on Tuesday 29 March 2011 from 9.30hrs. — 17.00hrs. in conjunction with the mission which will cover topics including regional updates from the ASEAN Designated National Authorities on their country’s clean energy and environment sector, policy and market developments; and highlights of Thailand’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) opportunities & challenges. The session is open for media to attend but please note that the seminar session will be conducted in English only.
The press launch will include representatives from Australian and Thai companies in the energy sector, the ASEAN Designated National Authorities and high level officials from the Thai Government, including Mr Kitti Limskul, Advisor to Prime Minister Office, Khunying Thongtip Ratanarat, Board of Directors of the Foundation for the Petroleum Institute of Thailand, Mr Paritud Bhandhubanyong, Advisor to Executive Director, Thailand's National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). Thai company representation will include Banpu, Mitr Phol, PTT International, Loxley and Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Authority.
Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation established in 2007, is the Designated National Authority in Thailand and is responsible for issuing Letters of Approval (LoA) for CDM projects. The TGO, with Austrade’s support, commissioned this report “Energy & Climate Change in Thailand: Analysis of Policy Environment and Capability Gaps” to summarise the situation and highlight opportunities for Thailand. The report aims to identify areas where Australian companies and investors can work closely with Thai companies to build industry capabilities in Thailand (including education) and also identify areas where capable Thai companies can help Australia to build capabilities in the clean energy and environment area.
