Bangkok--23 Mar--CPN - Continuing to highlight its industry leadership with strategic expansion that covers all major cities nationwide over the next two years - Planning for CentralPlaza Chiangrai to become strategic jigsaw piece that complements Thailand’s northernmost province - Envisioning CentralPlaza Chiangrai as the new landmark of the province and boosting the pride of Chiangrai residents Central Pattana Public Company Limited (CPN), Thailand’s leading retail developer, today announced its readiness to open its 16th shopping complex “CentralPlaza Chiangrai”, the best lifestyle shopping centre in the heart of Chiangrai province, on 30th March. Khun Wallaya Chirathivat, CPN’s Executive Vice President of Business Development & Construction Management, explained CPN’s expansion strategy, saying: “CPN will continue its strategy as an industry leader by expanding its business as planned. The expansion will cover major cities around the country and CentralPlaza Chiangrai is CPN’s 16th shopping centre. This year, we plan to open 3 new shopping complexes — CentralPlaza Chiangrai, CentralPlaza Phitsanulok and CentralPlaza Rama 9. In 2012, we plan to open CentralPlaza Suratthani and CentralFestival Chiangmai, CPN’s second shopping centre in Chiangmai.” For CPN, developing shopping complexes is part of the contribution to national development in areas like the economy, society, education, investment diversification, local economy stimulation, job creation and local prosperity. CPN’s shopping complexes not only bring new experiences to customers, but they also aim to be local destinations where members of the community can come and open their businesses, add value to local products, improve labour skills and develop trade and business operations. Khun Wallaya added: “We see Chiangrai as one of the northern provinces with great economic potential. The province has natural and cultural tourist attractions, and is ideally located at the gateway to neighbouring countries like China and countries along the Mekong River, allowing for networked trade and tourism. Chiangrai has a population of 1.2 million and annually welcomes over 1.65 million tourists”, according to the 2009 statistics provided by the Chiangrai Statistics Office. “CPN has decided to develop CentralPlaza Chiangrai in an effort to reinforce the province’s great potential and strengths. CentralPlaza will be the jigsaw piece that complements and enhances Chiangrai, a province that already has excellent potential. The new shopping complex will be Chiangrai’s newest magnetic destination attracting both Thais and foreigners to this amazing province.” The 2.4-billion-baht CentralPlaza Chiangrai is located at the province’s ideal location, the Super Highway Road (New Phaholyothin Road) and Old Phaholyothin Road, which is Chiangrai’s most important route. The shopping centre spans 52 rai, with gross floor area totaling 110,000 square metres Khun Wallaya said: “We expect the new shopping centre to be a place that offers a more rewarding experience to customers, making their visits pleasant and relaxing. We intend for CentralPlaza Chiangrai to be the first lifestyle shopping centre and all-inclusive lifestyle hub in Chiangrai.” CPN has always focused on design innovation. With world-class awards guaranteeing its expertise in design, CPN is determined to ensure that CentralPlaza Chiangrai’s design will become the province’s new magnificent landmark that uplifts the pride of Chiangrai residents. Khun Wallaya said: “We have incorporated modernity with elements of the local atmosphere in designing this shopping centre, using Chiangrai’s rich nature and treasured Lanna culture as inspirations for the designs. For example, the fa?ade of the shopping centre is decorated with Kasalong (Tree Jasmine), which is Chiangrai’s signature tree. In the project area, there are sculptures imitating Chiangrai’s geographic characteristics, and inside the shopping centre, there are over 7,000 bamboo playground pieces and toys made by senior citizens at Pa Dad Village in Amphor Mae Suai, Chiangrai.” Khun Wallaya said: “It took us only 11 months to build this shopping centre,” thanks largely to CPN’s excellent capability and construction innovations utilized. “Every floor and area of CentralPlaza Chiangrai will be ready to open for business on 30th March as scheduled.” In addition, this shopping centre will be Thailand’s first completely eco-friendly shopping centre. Its existence harmonizes with and respects the environment, society and community. All 360 degrees of this shopping centre are friendly to nature and the environment, with high-performance energy-efficient innovations that could help save up to 1.4 million units of electricity per year, an equivalent to the amount of electricity used by 200 households. These innovations will also help curb the carbon footprint by over 800 tonnes per year. CPN is committed to developing CentralPlaza Chiangrai into the “first and best lifestyle shopping centre in the heart of Chiangrai”, with extensive ranges of products and services that respond to every lifestyle. This shopping complex has three floors (plus a basement) and hosts over 200 leading stores. It is a place where customers can come and catch up on new trends. Anchor stores include Robinson’s Department Store, Tops Supermarket, PowerBuy, B2S, SuperSports, Major Cineplex and karaoke. The shopping centre will be the latest fashion spot in Chiangrai and offers the best variety of restaurants in the province. Customers can choose to dine at places such as family-oriented restaurants and the Food Park. They can also choose whether they want to dine indoors or outdoors. Sixth Sense is a restaurant decorated like an art gallery showcasing works of various renowned artists from the North. There is also a flower market and Kad Luang market offering various products for customers to purchase. Khun Sirinij Chokchairitikul, Vice President - Marketing Line of Robinson Department Store added: “Robinson Department Store Chiangrai will be presented in the new format under the concept “Northern Most Fashion” consisted of high quality fashion brands, international brands as well as popular brands for teenagers. We also offer exclusive brand and our own private brand, only @ Robinson for customers to choose as alternative in all categories together with variety of service to serve all needs of consumers and to make shoppers happy when they shop at Robinson.” As for the marketing strategy for CentralPlaza Chiangrai, Dr. Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, Executive Marketing Vice President of CPN said: “CPN has had extensive experience in marketing its developments in several major cities in Thailand and plans to use the same successful format in marketing CentralPlaza Chiangrai. We plan to use a holistic approach to 360-degree marketing and focus efforts on collaborating with partners in marketing. We will also employ customized marketing that entails studying the consumption behaviour of Chiangrai residents to find the best approach for effectively reaching out to our target groups. In Chiangrai, we plan to use the local media which is much more influential than the mass media, and we also plan to use innovative media to order to reach out to young people.” At the opening of CentralPlaza Chiangrai on 30th March, several fabulous events and activities will be held and many celebrities will attend the opening. We intend for this opening to be a major event of Chiangrai and it will be held under the theme “Charm of Enchanting Lanna”, which reflects the province’s treasured culture and art. CentralPlaza Chiangrai promises to deliver a new and exciting experience based on valued local culture, highlighting the three important aspects: art & culture, fashion and celebration. Dr. Nattakit said: “Promotions offered by CentralPlaza Chiangrai will be double promotions that allow customers to take advantage of both CPN’s nationwide summer campaign and the new shopping complex’s grand opening campaign. Customers stand to win the grand prize, the new Mitsubishi Lancer EX2.0, and the Honda Scoopy i motorcycle will be given away to one lucky winner every week. We are confident that all the activities and promotions we have prepared for customers will definitely help boost traffic and attract people with purchasing power to shop to at our shopping centre.” For more information, please contact CPN Public Relations Department: Tel. 0-2667-5555 Preeti Prapandvidya ext 4306, Sirirat Wacharuglert ext 4101 Fax. 02 264-5575 Email: [email protected] Website: www.cpn.co.th
