Bangkok--23 Mar--Professional Medial Business The Sittipol 1919 under We Care program in collaboration with The Thai Red Cross Organ Donation Center announce an advertising film contest to promote organ donations as part of HM the King’s 84th anniversary celebrations, with HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup as a top prize. Mr. Thanong Leeissaranukul, Managing Director The Sittipol 1919 Co., Ltd., revealed that “As part of HM the King’s 84th anniversary celebrations, the Sittipol Group under We Care program in collaboration with The Thai Red Cross Organ Donation Center have organized TVC For Life advertising film contest to promote organ donations, which opens for students nationwide a chanced to win a Royal Cup from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, in order to campaign for Thai people to have knowledge about organ donation and eventually increase the number of donors. “At present, the amount of donated organs is not enough to meet the demands of patience, who are still waiting with a hope to return to their normal life again. In addition, even though we can supply car spare parts, we cannot supply human spare parts. Therefore, we have initiated the Part For Life campaign as to build correct understanding of organ donations,” Thanong said. Mr. Wichai Kingchar, Director of The Sittipol Group “We Care,” said that the campaign has been successful during the past year, and it has played an important role in changing people’s attitudes as well as building correct understanding. With the commitment to support The Thai Red Cross Organ Donation Center, the group has organized the advertising film contest, which the group believes that will help urging Thai people to make merit by giving a new life to the others. Wichai added that the contestants will not only be able to express their creativity but also have a chance to win a Royal Cup from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. In addition, the winning team will have a chance to work with professional advertising film director to produce a film to be broadcasted on television. Talking about organ donations in Thailand in 2010, Dr. Visist Dhitavat, Director of The Thai Red Cross Organ Donation Center, said that there were 87 donors who died of cerebral infarction then, or only one donor per one million population, which was very little compared to other countries. In addition, the donated organs were transplanted to 215 patients, while there were 2,717 patients who were waiting. As a result, a number of patients had died before their queue. “The Thai Red Cross Organ Donation Center appreciates The Sittipol 1919 under We Care program’s Part For Life campaign to promote organ donations. In addition, the TVC For Life contest will not only give a chance for students to express their creativity and enable them a path to become professional advertisers, but the winning piece will also be broadcasted to public, which we hope will help increasing the number of organ donors for the patients who are still waiting,” Visist concluded.
