The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and 14 leading securities firms have launch CLICK2WIN 2011, an equities-derivatives online trading simulation competition for prospective investors planning to enter the real market. This will be the fifth year of this simulation, with prizes worth more than THB3 million (approx. USD99,206) to be awarded in two rounds of competition, in May and September. This year’s theme “Comprehensive Learning under a Real Market Environment”, shows that the project is to enable current and prospective investors to learn all angles of securities and derivatives trade by experimentally executing orders via the internet and using current information and news to support real-time trade, revealed SET Chief Marketing Officer Pakorn Peetathawatchai.
The project is provides participants with knowledge on investing both before and during the competition. CLICK2WIN has constantly grown in popularity, with 58,000 players in 2010.
“CLICK2WIN 2011 is one of many activities initiated under the SET’s strategies to expand the investor base, focusing on internet-based trade, which is convenient and fast in executing trade, and thus successful in attracting new investors. Currently, retail investors trading securities through the Internet account for 1/3 of total investors. As of end-2010, online trade value represented 24.54% of total trade on the Thai stock market and has tended to increase continually, reflecting increasing investor confidence towards doing online trading by themselves”, said Mr. Pakorn.
Contest results will be announced in June and October 2011. Prizes include the Broker League award from 14 supporting securities firms and valuable prizes from the SET, e.g., a hotel and Bangkok-Krabi flight package for two persons, iPhone 4s, and digital cameras. Also, the first 3,000 applicants who open internet trade accounts during the campaign will receive free CLICK2COOL electric fans.
