The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) was recognized in three categories of “Thailand ICT Excellence Awards 2010” for its outstanding projects. This contest was organized by Thailand’s major technology organizations to show appreciation for state, private and non-profit organizations which have achieved excellence in information and communications technology management, and to help raise the standard of ICT management in Thailand.
The SET won these awards: 1) the Thai Software Adoption Projects Award for the SET’s Streaming Pro project, which enhances the efficiency of real-time securities and derivatives trading software, 2) the Innovation Projects Award for the Streaming on iPhone project, which facilitates investors in executing securities and derivatives trade orders via iPhone, and 3) the Knowledge Management Projects Award for the SETSMART program, which provides trade information for all involved in securities trading, SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira revealed. “The recognition that the SET has received reflects the Thai bourse’s heightened level of capability and development on its information and communications technology management towards international standard” Mr. Charamporn noted.
“The SET has a mission to strive to be the stock market that provides convenience and speed, as well as efficient service that meet international standards through its IT Master Plan, which enhances the Thai Exchange’s capability and potential. All three awards from the Thailand ICT Excellence Awards 2010 highlighted the SET’s accomplishment in adopting information technology to respond to investor demand, both for the information dissemination that is essential for timely investment decision-making and for highly-efficient trading software, all of which are crucial for the development of the Thai capital market”, said Mr. Charamporn.
The Thailand ICT Excellence Awards have been held now for the third year, co-organized by Thailand Management Association, National Electronics and Computer Technology Center, Software Park Thailand, and the College of Innovative Education, Thammasat University.
