ข่าวทั่วไป Tuesday March 29, 2011 17:11 —PRESS RELEASE LOCAL

Bangkok--29 Mar-- Updated March 28, 2011, 1 p.m. ET / 2 a.m. JST (March 29) Given changes in customer travel patterns in Japan following recent events, Delta’s new nonstop service between Tokyo-Narita and Guangzhou, China, will begin July 5, rather than April 6 as previously announced. Customers affected by this schedule change will be reaccommodated on other flights, or can request full refunds. Delta temporarily suspended daily flights from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport to Los Angeles as of March 23 and to Detroit as of March 24. During the temporary suspension, Haneda customers are being reaccommodated on flights to Delta’s Tokyo-Narita hub or can request refunds. Flights are expected to resume later this spring. The suspension of Haneda service is part of an approximately 15-20 percent temporary reduction in Delta’s capacity in Japan. Delta continues to monitor the impact of events on customer travel patterns and may make further schedule adjustments as necessary. Delta continues to operate nonstop service between Japan and every city in the U.S. and abroad that was served at the time of the March 15 earthquake. Since the earthquake occurred, Delta has been waiving change fees and allowing select refunds for customers whose flight plans may be affected. Details are available under Flight Status & Updates on delta.com. In partnership with its customers and employees, Delta has pledged $1 million in cash and in-kind support to disaster relief efforts in Japan. Details of these efforts are available in Delta’s news release. Delta is the largest U.S.-based airline in Japan with more than 1,200 local employees and daily service to and from Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. From its hub at Narita Airport in Tokyo, Delta offers nonstop flights to 22 cities in the U.S. and across Asia. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has supported a joint statement from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on behalf of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), International Maritime Organization (IMO), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), on the continued safety of air transport operations in Japan, confirming that there are no restrictions to normal air transport operations at Japan’s major airports. Delta continues to monitor events in Japan and provide the latest updates at delta.com and twitter.com/DeltaNewsroom.
