THAI Celebrates Songkran Festival with Special Activities, Services, and Offers

Bangkok--4 Apr--Thai Airways Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) is celebrating the Songkran Festival with special airport activities, services, and offers that include airfare promotion and increased flights to several domestic destinations. Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, THAI President, said during this Songkran period THAI has organized a number of activities for passenger convenience at the airport, for cultural sampling in the lounges, and for great deals with special promotional fares. At Suvarnabhumi Airport, THAI ground services include additional check-in staff for flights to Chiang Mai, Phuket and Krabi, as well as extra staff on hand to provide special passenger care services for the elderly and disabled. For group travel, passengers can do advanced check-in three days prior to departure, by contacting THAI’s ticket office at the Company’s Head Office on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road. At the lounges, passengers may enjoy taking part in the traditional water blessing to celebrate Songkran in the THAI Royal First Class Lounge and the Royal Silk Class Lounge located in Concourse D. On 12-13 April, between 0800-1700 hours, a group of musically talented THAI staff will perform Thai music in the lounge. Thai handicraft demonstration, such as Thai flower arranging, garland-making and fruit-carving will also be shown. Onboard offerings on 13 April, between 1000-1700 hours, include beautiful Thai souvenirs for Bangkok-bound international Royal First Class and Royal Silk Class passengers; and between 0900-1700 hours, on the domestic route to and from Bangkok, THAI will present souvenirs to Royal Silk Class and Economy class passengers. Onboard special Thai dishes during 12-14 April for outbound international Royal First Class and Royal Silk Class passengers comprise: Kao Niaw Un-chan Sangkaya (Glutinous Rice Un-chan with Egg Custard) or Kao Niaw Ma Muang (Glutinous Rice with Mango Slices). Outbound international Economy Class passengers can enjoy Thong Yip, Sam-Pan-Nee and Ar-lua. On domestic flights from Bangkok, Royal Silk Class passengers will be served Tao Huay Fruit Salad (Bean Curd and Fruit Cocktail), while Bangkok bound passengers will be served Wun Tab-Tim Krob (Water Chestnut Jelly in Syrup and Coconut Milk) Economy Class passengers will be served Pink Sam-Pan-Nee, Purple Wun Krob and Yellow Kao Niaw Kaew. From 12-17 April, THAI will increase domestic flights, adding approximately 5,000 more seats, with three additional flights between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, and two additional flights between Bangkok and Krabi. From 12-14 April, THAI is offering a 50% discount for all domestic THAI flights to Bangkok, except from Samui. From 16-18 April 2011, THAI is offering a 50% discount for all flights from Bangkok to THAI domestic destinations, except to Samui.
