Free internet access in hotels has become a priority for several business travelers and plays a big role in their choice of hotel rooms. Keeping that in mind, starting April 1, 2011, Courtyard by Marriott Hotel Bangkok has launched free high speed internet access (HSIA) for guests staying at the highly valuable hotel.
According to a survey done by American firm Deloitte, 79% of all surveyors said that “complementary high speed internet in my room is important to me”. Free internet in hotel is usually a good thing and internet savvy guests look for that before booking hotels. But some times the free internet access is not fast enough to meet the expectations of today’s business travelers. That will not be the case at Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok. With the decision to offer HSIA, the hotel’s management is also increasing the bandwidth from 8 megabytes to 22 megabytes in anticipation that the availability of free internet will generally increase in usage.
Carsten Siebert, the General Manager of Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok express, “Guests were glad with our refreshing service and with the paid internet available in the hotel, but we wanted to take it one step further by making Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok much more business-friendly in providing free internet to all our guests.” The GM also said that the hotel’s prime location which is close to the commercial center and the sky train makes it a good choice and the free internet will reinforce its position as a business hotel.
