Masterful saxophonist, Tony Lakatos blows into town from May 20 — June 5, 2011 for a much anticipated session at The Living Room. The highly respected Hungarian sax legend will delight audiences at Bangkok’s leading jazz venue with a truly memorable performance of virtuoso musicianship.
The son of a famous gypsy violinist, Tony Lakatos was born in Budapest and grew up surrounded by music. Influenced by his father, Tony learned the violin at a young age but when he was 15 years old changed to the saxophone and became a professional musician when he won a national jazz competition. He went on to study jazz at the prestigious Bela Bart?k Conservatory in Budapest. Shortly after graduating in 1979, he moved to Germany where he became one of the most respected saxophone players on the jazz circuit and quickly gained a worldwide reputation for his extraordinary live performances.
Tony is in high demand as a session musician and has featured on over 300 recordings as the lead sax player. He has also toured extensively throughout Europe, the USA, Canada, Japan, South Africa, Lebanon, and India. And now, The Living Room brings this outstanding musical talent to Bangkok!
During his sensational residency at The Living Room, Tony Lakatos will be accompanied by the David-Gomes Trio featuring the renowned Malaysian pianist and vocalist, the gifted drummer, Shawn Kelley, and Thailand’s foremost bassist, Therdsak Wongvichien.
Catch sax sensation, Tony Lakatos at The Living Room from 21.30 hours onwards, Tuesday — Saturday, May 20 — June 5 June, 2011. A cover charge of Baht 950 is charged, which entitles one to two standard drinks.
Tony will also add his inimitable touch to the band at the Sunday Jazzy Brunch on May 22nd, May 29th and June 4th. The gourmet brunch is from 12.00 — 15.00 hours and priced at Baht 2,350 per adult and Baht 1,200 per child. Advanced booking is highly recommended.
