Trend Micro Inc., a global leader in cloud-based security, and Tencent, Inc., the largest Internet-based service operator in China and provider of the most popular instant messaging service with over 600 million registered accounts, announced that the latest version of the Tencent QQ PC Manager tool will be supported by Trend Micro’s powerful malware detection and removal technologies.
The latest release of Tencent QQ PC Manager (Version 4.6) will incorporate Trend Micro’s world-class host-based anti-malware technology, powered by the Trend Micro? Smart Protection Network? cloud infrastructure. Through the Smart Protection Network, Trend Micro scans, filters and correlates more than 50 billion emails, websites and files every single day, and then leverages that data to rapidly identify and respond to emerging threats, and improve the existing response to known threats. With the addition of Smart Protection Network enabled technology, the effectiveness of malware detection and cleaning has been enhanced by three times over earlier versions of QQ PC Manager.
This announcement marks the first collaborative effort between Trend Micro and Tencent. Together, the two leading Internet brands within China will provide immediate and powerful protection for the PC against the latest online threats for China’s immense and growing online population.
