Bangkok--9 May--INSF The Faculty of Nursing, Khon Kaen University, the Department of Nursing Student Development and the KKU Nursing Student Union would like to extend our warmest welcome nursing students and interested individuals to the third International Nursing Student Forum or INSF that will be held on May 19-May 21, 2011 under the title “Humanistic Nursing: Caring for Diverse Population”. The forum was first organized in 2009 and had been extremely successful in drawing guests from ASEAN countries as well as from Thailand. This year, the third INSF is created again with the aims to 1) provide a stage for exchanging nursing care knowledge, skills, experiences, and innovations in dealing with health needs resulting from population diversity in the global society, 2) enhance nursing students’ communication skills in exchanging healthcare experiences with participants from different culture, 3) establish academically cooperative networks among nursing students, and 4) promote nursing students’ internationalization. The prospect of this year’s forum is looking to be very promising as nursing students from 7 countries have confirmed their attendance to a total of over 600 students. There will be nursing students from China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, New Zealand, Vietnam and Thailand. We have three internationally recognized keynote speakers including 1) Professor Dr. Beverley Taylor from Australia, who is currently a visiting professor at Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, the National University of Singapore, 2) Professor Dr. Samantha Pang who is a Director of WHO Collaborating Centre for Community Health Services and a Professor at the School of Nursing, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and 3) Dr. Deborah Spence, the Department of Nursing Head, Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. Other activities include two concurrent sessions of oral presentation, a poster presentation session and field trips to selected humanistic care projects within Khon Kaen Province. Two dinner parties will be organized under the theme “Getting to know you” and “Conference banquet and cultural show”. Please join us in this exciting academic and cultural exchange endeavor. “See you in Khon Kaen soon”.
