ESCAP 67th Commission Session, 19 to 25 May
BANGKOK (UN ESCAP Strategic Communications and Advocacy Section) -- The 67th Commission Session of ESCAP under the theme, “Beyond the Crises: Long term perspectives on social protection and development in Asia and the Pacific,” will be held at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok from 19 to 25 May. The annual Session comprises two parts: the Senior Officials Segment from 19 to 21 May in preparation for the Ministerial Segment, which will be held from 23 to 25 May.
While the Asia-Pacific region emerged from the global financial crisis as a growth driver and anchor of stability for the world economy in 2011, high food and fuel prices and volatile capital flows pose fresh challenges. Over 60 Government leaders from the Asia-Pacific region will meet to discuss
these challenges and to focus on long-term perspectives on socialprotection and development in Asia and the Pacific.
