Low fares leader Jetstar has launched its latest New Zealand destination — Dunedin* — bringing low fares and choice direct to the Otago region. (*Subject to regulatory approval).
From 14 July 2011, Dunedin* will become Jetstar’s fifth market in New Zealand, introducing a new daily Auckland-Dunedin* A320 service that breaks the monopoly on this key domestic route.
Jetstar, famous for low fares and offering travelers greater choice, has every day fares on the Auckland-Dunedin* route up to 40 per cent lower than its competitor.
Jetstar marks its entry into Dunedin* with special one-way sale fares at Jetstar.com from $5 between Auckland and Dunedin* for a strictly limited time. (Point of sale New Zealand only. Terms & conditions apply).
The one-way JetSaver Light fares are on sale for one hour between 12 noon and 1pm today (12 May) at Jetstar.com. (Terms & conditions apply, see Jetstar.com).

Jetstar’s all day every day web fares between Auckland-Dunedin* start from $99.
Jetstar Group CEO Bruce Buchanan said the new route would be a key link to its large Auckland hub, offering daily international connections to Australia and a fast expanding Pan Asian network through a daily Auckland-Singapore A330 service.
“Jetstar will grow the market between Dunedin* and Auckland by 46 per cent, bringing low fares and choice back for travelers,” Mr Buchanan said.

Jetstar Australia & New Zealand CEO David Hall said the airline was growing its NZ domestic network at a critical time for the New Zealand tourism industry, joining Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown, ahead of the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
“As a leading South Island tourism destination and lively university city, Dunedin is a great fit for Jetstar’s growing New Zealand network,” Mr Hall said.

Mr Hall said Jetstar’s new Auckland-Dunedin* service represented 129,000 annual seats on the market, supported by Jetstar’s fleet of eight A320s based in New Zealand.
Internationally Dunedin* will now be better connected on Jetstar via Auckland to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and its daily A330 Auckland-Singapore service to 24 Asian destinations through its Singapore Changi Airport hub.
A Qantas code share will also operate on the route.
Dunedin Airport CEO John McCall said the new A320 daily service* from Auckland would boost competitive choices for passengers and be a flight-path for increased visitors and business opportunities for the Otago/Southland region.
