Specifically, the Powertrain products span engine systems, transmission control units, sensors and actuators, fuel supply systems, and components for hybrid and electric vehicles. One of the highlights on display by the Powertrain Division is a turbocharger. Turbocharging gasoline engines is becoming ever more important since it is the only way to achieve the downsizing of engines that is essential to the reduction of fuel consumption. It is expected that there will be excellent opportunities for growth in this segment in the next few years. Continental is no newcomer to innovation.. Green and Comfort Tire for the Chinese Market At Auto Shanghai 2011, Continental launched the new ContiComfortContact 5, which is tailored for Chinese roads and conditions. This new product reflects the considerable progress made in offering optimum safety, reducing noise and rolling resistance. Adopting third generation silica compound technology, Continental cut rolling resistance of CC5 by an additional nine percent from the last generation. During the development stage, tire engineers conducted extensive research and multiple tests on “noise breakers,” which break the air waves in the longitudinal grooves to achieve a quieter ride. Over the past ten years, Continental has managed to reduce the rolling resistance of passenger tires by about one third. A minimal rolling resistance contributes to greater fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions. At the same time, tire safety has been greatly improved.
