Bangkok--25 May--Shine PR Phuket
Over 150 Phuket residents attended a stylish fundraising brunch at The Evason Phuket resort to raise much needed cash for the animal charity.
On Sunday May 22, the Evason Phuket resort presented Phuket residents with a delicious brunch all in aid of raising funds for the Soi Dog Foundation (SDF). The luxury beachside resort generously gave the charity the venue for the event and cuisine. Through the sale of tickets, fantastic raffle prizes and an auction the event raised a total sum of 600,000 THB.
Supporters of all ages and backgrounds attended the event from the North and south of Phuket Island, all uniting to support a worthy cause. Impressive entertainment by the dancers from Palazzo kept the audience of the edge of their seats and encouraged a party spirit on a hot and sunny Phuket day.
John Dalley, founder of SDF reiterated in his opening speech that the foundation costs nearly 1 million THB per month (USD 33,000) to run, although the overheads are low regarding administration due to the kindness of volunteers giving their time, the main outgoings are medical supplies, staffing costs and food.
He also told the audience that “The foundation’s objective has always been to finish the job in Phuket” he continued,“This money raised today will go directly towards securing the remainder of the land where the shelter is currently located and thereby maintaining SDF's presence on Phuket.” He added, “However, there is still a long way to go yet.”
The foundation has to now raise an additional 4 million THB to secure the remainder of the land so that they can expand and operate fully.
Soi Dog Foundation would like to extend gratitude to all the attendees of the brunch, all the local businesses that kindly donated prizes, the official sponsors: The Evason Phuket, The Phuket Gazette, Shine PR Phuket and Palazzo and a special thanks to Cristy Baker for organising another successful SDF event.
