Over 150 Phuket residents attended a stylish fundraising brunch at The EvasonPhuket resort to raise much needed cash for the animal charity.
The Evason Phuket resort presented Phuket residents with a deliciousbrunch all in aid of raising funds for the Soi Dog Foundation (SDF). The luxury beachsideresort generously gave the charity the venue for the event and cuisine. Through the sale oftickets, fantastic rafEle prizes and an auction the event raised a total sum of 600,000 THB.
Supporters of all ages and backgrounds attended the event from the North and south ofPhuket Island, all uniting to support a worthy cause. Impressive entertainment by thedancers from Palazzo kept the audience of the edge of their seats and encouraged a partyspirit on a hot and sunny Phuket day.
John Dalley, founder of SDF reiterated in his opening speech that the foundation costsnearly 1 million THB per month (USD 33,000) to run, although the overheads are lowregarding administration due to the kindness of volunteers giving their time, the mainoutgoings are medical supplies, stafEing costs and food.
He also told the audience that “The foundation’s objective has always been to Einish the jobin Phuket” he continued,“This money raised today will go directly towards securing theremainder of the land where the shelter is currently located and thereby maintaining SDF'spresence on Phuket.” He added, “However, there is still a long way to go yet.”
The foundation has to now raise an additional 4 million THB to secure the remainder of theland so that they can expand and operate fully.
