The Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands Survey 2011 was brought to a high-profile conclusion with a glittering awards ceremony and gala dinner. The event was attended by top representatives of award recipient organisations and their affiliates. Guest of Honour, Dr. Vachara Phanchet welcomed guests to the event, and Mr. Christopher Axberg, Managing Director of Reader’s Digest Asia Pte. Ltd. presented what has become one of Asia’s most coveted awards across a broad range of market sectors.
A total of 98 Gold Awards were issued; in addition, there were 11 winners of the top-echelon Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands Platinum Awards. PTT scooped the award for “Best Petrol Station”, and Sony was the only recipient under “Consumer Electronics,” which was awarded on the strength of its DVD player offering and consumer experience. Mitsubishi Electric took an award for the quality of its air conditioning units, and Amway eSpring was named as “Best Water Purifier.” TOA received a “Household Products” award under the “Paint” category, and Thai Airways took platinum for a virtually-uncontested “Best Airline.” MK was named as Best Family Restaurant ahead of close rivals, and Enfant and Wacoal received awards under the “Luxury and Personal Products” category, namely for Children’s Fashion and Lingerie respectively. Siriraj Hospital was the top primary healthcare provider and Land and Houses Public Co. Ltd. was the platinum property developer for 2011.
2011’s Trusted Brands Survey saw the introduction of a new award category for Most Trusted News / Affairs Presenter. The inaugural winner was Mr Sorrayuth Suthasanachinda, a primetime presenter renowned for his in-depth interviews for News Talk, Reung-Lao-Chao-Nee, Kui-Kui-Kao, and Teung-Look-Teung-Kon.
This year’s ceremony was the 13th consecutive year of this very influential consumer survey. It featured a total of 8000 respondents in 8 countries, proving detailed information on over 40 product categories. 83% of respondents in Asia said that results of the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands Survey have helped them to make purchasing decisions, with 64% believing they are more likely to select a brand that received a Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand 2011 Award.
