Lenovo Announces General Manager for ASEAN Region

Bangkok--8 Jun--Spark Communications Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) has announced Koh Kong Meng as the General Manager for the ASEAN region. He succeeds Howie Lau, who was appointed Lenovo’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the Emerging Market Group. In this role, Koh will be responsible for sales, marketing, channels and distribution of Lenovo’s consumer, SMB and commercial products across ASEAN. Koh will report to Chen Shaopeng, President of Lenovo’s Emerging Market Group. The emerging markets, which include ASEAN, represent a strong opportunity for rapid growth and an opportunity to reach double digit market share for Lenovo. As a result of executing our ‘Protect and attack’ strategy, ASEAN has outgrown the market for six consecutive quarters. Koh joined Lenovo in 2005 during the acquisition of IBM’s personal computer division and has held a number of roles culminating in his appointment as Executive Director for the Key Account Business segment. In this role, he was responsible for growing the Think-brand across ASEAN as well as maintaining relationships with key corporate customers and large enterprises during a time when Lenovo continued to strengthen its leadership in the region. Prior to Lenovo, he was the Country Manager for the IBM Personal Systems Group in Singapore. Koh was at IBM from 1992 to 2005 and his portfolio included country strategy, key account management for the financial services industry as well as product marketing and management. Born in Singapore, Koh was educated in Singapore where he is a graduate of the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor in Business Administration degree. Koh currently serves on the IT Advisory Council for the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He is married with two children.
