Low fares leader Jetstar, the Qantas Group’s value based carrier, recently held a recruitment program for new Bangkok-based cabin crew as the carrier continues to grow its Pan Asian footprint.
More than 1,000 candidates attended the recruitment program in an effort to join one of the fastest growing airlines in Asia, the world’s largest aviation market.
Operations at Jetstar now span two continents, with up to 2,400 weekly flights operated each week to 57 destinations in 14 countries across the Asia Pacific region.
The recruitment exercise coincided with a number of key milestones the carrier has reached.
Some of these key milestones are:
- Jetstar is one of the largest, most profitable low cost carriers experiencing double digit compounded growth in every year of its operations
- The Jetstar Group of airlines has carried 90 million passengers, including 16.4 million in the last financial year, and supports a wider fleet of approaching 80 aircraft.
- Jetstar continues to invest in growth with over 50 committed aircraft to arrive over the next few years
- Jetstar’s rapid expansion within Australia, New Zealand, and Asia has 7000 people across the region to deliver the Jetstar product

Jetstar’s extensive training programs includes: aviation medicine training; a cultural awareness program; security training; fire-fighting training and emergency procedure training. Jetstar Cabin Crew are regularly tested throughout their working career in a number of areas including regular emergency procedure testing.
Additional training programs that has been developed by Jetstar includes a drugs and alcohol awareness training program, a ‘responsible service of alcohol certification’, a performance management program for all Cabin Crew, an on-board endorsement program for all new cabin crew members as well as the Qantas Group’s unique ’Be Safe Occupational Health & Safety Program.’
