Bangkok--17 Jun--Centara Hotels and Resorts
All 27 Thailand properties within Centara Hotels & Resorts are participating in a programme to aid victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami by donating 10 percent of their net revenues from the period June to August.
The programme is organised by STWorld, a business partner of Centara and one of the major travel agents in Japan, specialising in beach resorts and exotic destinations worldwide through direct sales and wholesale.
Under the STWorld programme, each of the Centara properties will contribute 10 percent of their net revenue, the funds being transferred by individual credit notes from each property, valid beginning 1 November 2011.
Revenues raised will go towards the purchase of an apartment complex in Japan which is fully dedicated to disaster victims and which will provide a home for 500 households.
“We are happy to be making a positive contribution to provide assistance to those rendered homeless by this dreadful tragedy,” says Chris Bailey, senior vice president for sales and marketing at Centara Hotels & Resorts. “Each of our Thai properties is closely involved, and I think all of our guests will be pleased to know they are helping the victims of the disaster.”
The STWorld programme is a response to the earthquake that occurred off the northeastern coast of Japan on March 11, which with the subsequent tsunami waves left thousands of people dead or injured, and caused a vast amount of damage and destruction.
