LG Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and the Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) today announced a strategic partnership, which will see LG’s world-class innovation leadership matched with the academic leadership of KMITL’s Faculty of Engineering. The partnership will foster the potential of students through the ‘LG Life’s Good Scholarship’, the LG Innovation Center, and the LG Auditorium. Reflecting its significance to both parties, LG’s total contribution to the partnership is 4 million baht.
At the launch, Thunyachate Ekvetchavit, Marketing Director, LG Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd explained that, “LG’s vision is to encourage the long-term development of society through world-class products and technology. LG is proud to partner with KMITL’s Faculty of Engineering to sign the Empowering Tomorrow’s Leader’s partnership.
“LG’s believes that our innovation leadership, combined with the academic leadership of KMITL’s Faculty of Engineering will develop the capacity of talented students and help them to fulfill their potential and become valuable contributors to the industry and to the technological advancement of the country in the future,” added Mr. Ekvetchavit.
Associate Professor Dr. Suchatvee Suwansawat, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, KMITL, emphasized that “The Faculty of Engineering foresees that partnering with a world-class innovation leader such as LG will help to increase the skills and potential of our students, enabling them to become tomorrow’s leaders in technology. Through this mutually beneficial partnership, we look forward to equipping tomorrow’s leaders of Thailand with the tools they need to succeed at the highest level.”
The partnership features three key initiatives. At an individual level, this includes the establishment of the ‘LG Life’s Good Scholarship’, which will be awarded to outstanding master’s degree students in KMITL’s Faculty of Engineering, with no commitment. The scholarships have a combined value of 800,000 baht per year. It will also include the establishment of the state-of-the-art LG Auditorium, an innovative teaching space equipped with LG products to create a stimulating learning environment for students. The third initiative is the founding of LG’s first ever LG Innovation Center, which is designed to enrich university life by offering opportunities for students from across KMITL to interact with LG technology.
“Both KMITL’s Faculty of Engineering and LG are investing significant resources in this partnership,” added Associate Professor Dr. Suchatvee Suwansawat. “LG is contributing its innovative technology and providing substantial financial support, while KMITL’s Faculty of Engineering is investing in developing the capabilities of our students to reach their potential, and in the physical facilities needed for the LG Auditorium and LG Innovation Center.”
“The scope of the partnership means it will extend beyond KMITL’s Faculty of Engineering and even beyond the wider university. In the long term, opportunities for members of the public to experience LG and KMITL through a range of activities have the exciting potential to open a new chapter of public engagement for both organizations,” said Dr. Suchatvee.
Thanyachate added that “The future of this partnership holds exciting opportunities, such as engaging students in hands-on, real world research and development — not only will they be ‘tomorrow’s leaders’, they may also shape future technologies. LG and KMITL’s shared passion for innovation and smart technology means the possibilities are endless,” he concluded.
