Bangkok--24 Jun--Thai Airways
Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, THAI President, was honorable guest speaker at the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce luncheon, on 23 June 2011, at the St. Regis Hotel.
With Thailand welcoming nearly 600,000 German tourists in 2010, and with Germany an important trade partner for Thailand, where more than 600 German companies operate, many German and international member companies were interested to hear Mr. Amranand speak.
THAI President was invited to share views on direction of Thai Airways International under the topic “Managing Thai Airways in Challenging Times.” Mr. Amranand stated that THAI is taking precautionary actions to mitigate risk factors such as rapid rise in fuel price, exchange fluctuation, competition from low cost carriers (LCC), traditional carriers, ASEAN open sky and liberalization policy, timely aircraft acquisition, European Union carbon emission regulations, and natural disasters. As well Mr. Amranand highlighted THAI’s products and service enhancements that won accolades and was announced at the Paris air show the previous day.
