Thai Seed Trade Association (THASTA) by Dr.Prasert Kongkiatngam, Sub-Committee of Plant Protection, joined the agricultural seminar, “Why to use quality — bred plants” on how to use quality seeds to produce quality crops and also presented information on Plant Varieties Protection Act, B.E.2542 of which definition of general local plants and non-international standard regulations has become barriers to Thailand’s agricultural research and developments both in short and long term. This impractical law will effect to the country’s agricultural supply chain from farmers, researchers, breeders, consumers, traders and investors.
