On Thursday July 21, 2011, BarSu and Wine Dee Dee Co Ltd., invite you to kick-back in style and allow our elegant bartenders to introduce you to a fabulous selection of Lightband and Quack’s Corner Wines from New Zealand. Six labels will be complimented by enticing dishes, each created to pair with the distinctly modern wines.
Established in 2001, Lightband Wines is run by the owners of Mount Arthur Vineyards. Based in Nelson on the South Island, a region renowned for producing outstanding wines, the label produces vintages that display the unique characteristics of New Zealand wines. Lightband Wines sources their grapes from the owners’ vineyard and a select group of neighboring Brightwater vineyards situated beside the Wairoa and Wai-iti rivers that flow down from the Southern Alps.
Lightband’s approachable and modern range is the perfect introduction to the wines of the New World. The relaxed evening at BarSu will begin with Lightband Pinot Gris 2008, a pale straw colored wine with aromas of autumn and delicious flavors of ripe quince and pears combined with a hint of peaches and cream. The second wine of the evening will be the Lightband Sauvignon Blanc 2009. This delightful full bodied wine displays classic Sauvignon characteristics with aromas of gooseberry, passion fruit and a hint of herbs. Other wines served will include the Lightband Unoaked Chardonnay 2009, and the dark and fruity Lightband Pinot Noir 2008.
Guests will also enjoy two outstanding wines from the winery’s intriguingly named Quack’s Corner label. The Quack’s Corner Sauvignon Blanc 2008 is a juicy Sauvignon with refreshing citrus flavors and a lingering finish while the Quack’s Corner Pinot Noir 2008 delivers luscious cherries and plums that lead to pleasingly dry tannins.
