Offering peace of mind, better quality control, flexibility and real-time planning
Wanavit Manufacturing has been able to boost its production of Hatari electric fans by at least 30 percent, has improved flexibility and real-time planning, can better track its costs and expenses and has better quality control after using Infor ERP SyteLine.
Over the past two years since implementing Infor's SyteLine 8 Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application, Wanavit Manufacturing has been able to expand operations using its existing facilities and Wanavit’s IT Consultant Vittaya Thanyasrisung says that this was thanks to better access to data.
In addition, thanks to SyteLine, "hidden costs" involved in the maintenance of equipment have also been identified and eliminated by the Maintenance Department while the company has also been able to reduce staff overtime despite the increase in production.
Management now has more control over production while the quality of the fans has been improved and the number of defects all but eliminated through quality control measures.
The IT Consultant says that Infor ERP SyteLine has been extended to the whole company so that "now, it's not just for finance, distribution and manufacturing any more -- everything goes under the ERP system." Vittaya is now able to turn to other department heads and say: "Do you guys need anything? We can do everything for you."
Many of the benefits that Wanavit has derived from Infor ERP SyteLine stem from the ability of its IT team to customize the application. This includes integrating quality control into production, creating its own version of planning, called "shipment planning" or "made to stock", customizing logistics and delivery as well as tailoring promotions to appeal traditional sales channels.
And, thanks to the vision of Wanavit Manufacturing Managing Director Siriwan Panichtrakul and General Manager Chantima Trongpisutsak, the customization of Infor ERP SyteLine continues with the nine-man strong IT department now looking at using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to introduce standards into manufacturing, using Infor ERP SyteLine to try to help to reduce the percentage of scrap.
The system also tracks everything down to the payment of delivery truck drivers, Vittaya notes, and he adds that Wanavit Manufacturing now has a much better picture of its job order planning and scheduling and is able to quickly assess whether a new order from the Marketing Department can be accommodated or not.
Vittaya also praises Infor's online support, with support for applications being based here in Thailand while technical support can be from experts in other countries such as Japan, China or Singapore.
"Once we log into the system there will be someone to quickly help us and they are going to get back to us in 10 or 15 minutes," added Vittaya.
